“True sport is always a duel: a duel with nature, with one's own fear, with one's own fatigue, a duel in which body and mind are strengthened.” - Yevgeny Yevtushenko (Russian poet) The Course is designed to enable students develop their physical fitness and perfect movement skills which they subsequently put into practice as teachers at the basic and secondary levels. The fundamental goal of the physical education program is to prepare students for challenges by providing opportunities to attain the skills and knowledge to be physically active as part of a healthy lifestyle. They are trained to become competent in movement forms, motor skills and social skills and enjoy their profession while not compromising safety.



Objectives
Opening new avenues in Physical education for the untapped youth population. Producing high quality graduates and teacher educators. Providing high standard Sports facilities to the students. Developing competent faculties in physical education. Generating mass interest in sports and related fields. Creating Excellent sports infrastructure for National & International competitions. Blending of Yoga, meditation, human values and physical education.


General Rules
Minimum 90% (Theory & Practical) attendance is necessary in all the theory and practical classes. Students are expected to maintain a high standard of self-discipline. Candidates are expected to come in proper sports uniform with appropriate kit for appearing in the fitness test and game of their choice. For sports activities, white shoes/trainers are compulsory, and are to be procured by the students.

Facilities

Sports Complex

		The college has well laid out play fields for out door games & sports. A state of art sports complex is being constructed under the guidance of Kirbee Associates, Hyderabaad. It is the pride of not only IPS but of entire Gwalior.

Out door facilities International standard 2 lawn tennis courts together with 2 basketball courts are available right in front of the Indoor stadium. In between the water bodies and the greenery, grounds for major out door games viz. Football, Hockey, Cricket, Volley ball, Kho-Kho and Kabbadi are quite inviting to the young legs. Besides this, a separate 400 mts. Athletic track adds to overall facilities available for physical education students.

		In door facilities: An international standard indoor stadium with ultra modern facilities with latest equipments stands out as an added attraction. The stadium has provision for Billiards, squash, Shooting range, table tennis, Badminton court, Basketball court, Gymnasium as well as facilities for steam bath sauna and Jacuzzi.

It will be a unique experience for the students to participate in the events in the stadium. With the facilities available in the campus, State and National level competitions will be organized on various events.

Well-stocked library with relevant text books, reference books, national and international journals and periodicals, to serve the student community.



Laboratories
The College possesses a computer laboratory furnished with 30 PCs, internet facility, etc.



Anatomy & Physiology Lab
This lab is endowed with Wet Spiro Meter, Peak Flow Meter, Sphygmomanometer, Compound microscope, stethoscope, models & charts depicting various body systems.



Sport Psychology Lab
Various psychometric tests to measure interest, personality, motivation, stress and anxiety, designed to train the studentteachers to evaluate students.



Intra-murals
Intra murals are organized on a customary basis to train the students to the level of perfection.



Adventure Trips
Adventure trips are arranged to allow the students to discover their hidden potentials and sporting spirits as well as have unlimited fun to be cherished for a lifetime.

Recognition and Affiliation

The course is approved by the Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh.
It is also approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
The college is affiliated to Jiwaji University, Gwalior.

Eligibility (B.P.Ed.)

Graduate in any discipline from any university recognized by UGC.
Candidates must have secured 40% marks in aggregate.
Should not be more than 25 years of age.
For employed candidates, age limit is relaxable up to 40 years.
Employed candidates must submit a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from his / her present employer before the entrance test.
Reservations as per government norms.
For women candidates: Married women candidates are eligible for admission to
B.P.Ed course. However, if she gets pregnant during the course, she will have to
discontinue the course. She may be permitted to continue her studies in the following
academic session.

Admission Procedure (B.P.Ed.)

Admission to the course through an entrance test conducted by the College.

Eligibility (M.P.Ed.)

Candidates must possess 50% marks in B.P.Ed. / B.P.Ed. integrated course.
Reservations for SC / ST / OBC candidates as per the government norms.
