Country/western dance, also called Country and Western dance, encompasses many dance forms or styles, which are typically danced to country-western music, and which are stylistically associated with American country and/or western traditions. Dance, along with music, has always dynamically expressed the spirit and personality of every culture. Modern western dance is part of this global language and its roots run wide and deep. They can be traced to the taverns of Ireland and to the ballrooms of Europe. Representatives from all of these cultures brought their native dances when they landed in America. Widely differing peoples who had little or no exposure to one another gathered and danced on common ground.

RULE

 
  1. There should be one team from each college.

  2. There should be 6-8 participants in each team.

  3. The Maximum performing time will be 8 minutes.

  4. Time for entry and exit on stage will be 03 minutes.

  5. The theme should be strictly western.

  6. Costumes and other properties for dance have to be arranged by participants themselves.

  7. The decision of the judges will be last and final.

As with other aspects of Indian culture, different forms of dances originated in different parts of India, developed according to the local traditions and also imbibed elements from other parts of the country.Classical dance in India has developed a type of dance-drama that is a form of a total theater. The dancer acts out a story almost exclusively through gestures. Most of the classical dances enact stories from Hindu mythology. Each form represents the culture and ethos of a particular region or a group of people.

  3. The Maximum performing time will be 10 minutes.

  4. Time for entry and exit on stage will be 03 minutes.

  5. Participants should perform on given theme (Indian state dance reflecting Indian culture).

  6. Costumes and other properties for dance have to be arranged by participants themselves.

POSTER PAINTING

ABOUT

A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and graphic elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly text. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and informative. Posters may be used for many purposes. They are a frequent tool of advertisers (particularly of events, musicians and films), propagandists, protestors and other groups trying to communicate a message. Posters are also used for reproductions of artwork, particularly famous works, and are generally low-cost compared to original artwork. The modern poster, as we know it, however, dates back to the 1840s and 1850s when the printing industry perfected colour lithography and made mass production possible.

COLLAGE MAKING

ABOUT

Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.The term collage was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art.

RANGOLI

ABOUT

Rangoli, also known as Kolam, is an artform from India in which patterns are created on the floor in living rooms or courtyards using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals and paints. It is generally done during various Indian festivals.The purpose of rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck. Design depictions may also vary as they reflect traditions, folklore and practices that are unique to each area.Generally, this practice is showcased during occasions such as festivals, auspicious observances, marriage celebrations and other similar milestones and gatherings.

1 There is no restriction for participating teams from each college.
2. There should be two participants in each team.
3. The Maximum time will be 2Hr.
4.  Participating team has to bring their own material.
5. Use of Chemical/Synthetic colors should be avoided.

Mime is a theatrical medium or a performance art involving miming or the acting out of a story through bodily motions without use of SPEECH.

RULE

 

One team from each college will be eligible to participate.
There should be 10-12 participants in each team.
The Maximum time allotted to each team will be 15 minutes.
Time for entry and exit on stage will be 02 minutes.
Performance should be based on specific message issue (Theme based)
Evaluation will be based on selection of theme, presentation, timing and coordination.

Vocal Solo music is a type of music performed by one singer, with or without instrumental accompaniment, in which singing provides the main focus of the piece. Indian classical music is based on a rich vocal tradition, wherein even instruments are evaluated on their ability to follow the human voice, imitate it, or recreate the same expressions.

Group Song can be defined as any kind of music sung by more than one singers, with or without musical instruments,light or heavy. The group can be of two types in general- A choir, and A Band. A choir generally sings together or in sync with one another, whereas in a a band there are one or two singers, while others are in charge of some musical instrument such as guitars, drums, flute, etc

QUIZ

ABOUT

A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. In some countries, a quiz is also a brief assessment used in education and similar fields to measure growth in knowledge, abilities, and/or skills.Quizzes are usually scored in points and many quizzes are designed to determine a winner from a group of participants – usually the participant with the highest score.

DEBATE

ABOUT

Debate is contention in argument; strife, dissension, quarrelling, controversy; especially a formal discussion of subjects before a public assembly. Debate is a method of formally presenting an argument in a disciplined manner. Through logical consistency, factual accuracy and some degree of emotional appeal to the audience are elements in debating, where one side often prevails over the other party by presenting a superior "context" of the issue. The outcome of a debate may depend upon consensus or some formal way of reaching a resolution, rather than the objective facts.In a formal debating contest, there are rules for participants to discuss and decide on differences, within a framework defining how they will interact.

  1. There should be four participants from each college. Two participants for favor and two for against.

  2. Topic: Changing Society and its impact on Family Life.

  3. The Maximum time will be 5 minutes.

  4.  Evaluation will be based on topic related content, presentation style, confidence and argument.

  5. Language can either be Hindi or English.

  6.  The decision of the judges will be last and final.

CREATIVE WRITING

Creative writing is any writing that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, or technical forms of literature, typically identified by an emphasis on narrative craft and character development. Both fictional and non-fictional works fall into this category. Creative writing can technically be considered any writing of original composition.Unlike its academic counterpart of writing classes that teach students to compose work based on the rules of the language, creative writing is believed to focus on students’ self-expression.

    1. It will be an open event for the students of IPS.

    2. The Maximum time will be 30 minutes.

    3. Participants have to write based on the visuals presented before them.

    4. Maximum time for visual display will be 5 minutes.

    5. Text content will be limit to 500 words only.

    6. For writing, sheets will be provided by institute.

    7. Evaluation will be based on presentation, writing skill, content relating to the visual.

    8. The decision of the judges will be last and final.
