Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which includes Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc.
Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.

The department of Civil Engineering is one of the most important departments of the Institute. It offers a UG course and a PG Course. The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty which strives to produce competent professionals who are abreast with the latest technology and are equipped with enterprising skills necessary for a designer and a site engineer.
The department has 5 well equipped laboratories and more are under process which provide good facilities for routine teaching, field testing, consultancy and research in civil Engineering.
